EARLI is a network of research sites that will enroll and follow a large group of mothers of children with autism at the start of another pregnancy and document the newborn child’s development through three years of age. The EARLI Study will examine possible environmental risk factors for autism and study whether there is any interplay between environmental factors and genetic susceptibility.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 1 in every 88 children has an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the country; however, little is known about what causes it.
The EARLI Study is an important research study trying to change that. If you have a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder may become pregnant again in the future, you have a unique opportunity to help researchers better understand the causes of autism so that we can one day more effectively treat or prevent this challenging disorder.
